The project entails cooperation of experts in technical and economical water management, hydrology and aquifer modeling, integrated environmental assessment, and geographic information system modeling.
The ARC Seibersdorf Research GmbH is part of the Austrian Research Centers (ARC) Holding. It is Austria's largest non-university establishment for applied research and development.
The Environmental Planning Unit has focused its activities on the synthesis and visualization of environmental data through linking advanced dynamic models with geographical information systems. In the last years most research activities were on modeling of spatial patterns of environmental impacts (e.g. multicausal risk mapping for forest dieback) and information for environmental decision making (e.g. regional air quality management plans). Much of the environmental research is being carried out by request of national and regional governments.

Joanneum Research, Graz (JRG) is a professional research institute and an important focal point of scientific research in Austria. As a partner of innovation JRG focuses on applied research and development in the key technologies of the nineties.
The Institute of Hydrogeology and Geothermics with an international staff of about 30 recently has become the largest institute within the institute. Since its establishment in 1978 the institute has built up a high degree of competence in the special field of karst hydrogeology, contaminant transport in the unsaturated zone, interrelations between surface and groundwater and recharge/discharge relationships. The institute also has specialised in technology transfer to developing countries through professional training. Courses and workshops on tracer methods have been supported by UNESCO and the Austrian government. Workshops on hydrogeology in DC’s, e.g. in Kenya, Mexico have been organized so far.
