Nitrate in spring water

There is marked pattern with higher nitrate concentrations in spring water downstream of the major human settlements. The (few) monitoring data show the pollution risk of shallow groundwater through domestic sewage: the nitrate concentrations in springs (in the northeastern part of the valley) are consistenmtly higher downstream of population centers.
