Fishponds in the Bet Shean region

The photo was taken from the northwestern slopes of the Jordan Valley towards the east. In the foreground there are two of the many fishponds of the Bet Shean region. In the background there are large irrigated agricultural fields of the Jordanian Sheyk Husayn area. I am not sure whether the ponds in the picture are used for irrigated agriculture or as fisheries.
