Water use for irrigation: fruit orchards

Irrigation accounts for 95 % of the total water use in the Jordan Valley.
This photo shows a citrus (light green in left and center) and date palm (blue-green in the right) plantation in northwestern edge of the Wadi Fara. On average, one hectare of citrus trees require 6000-7000 cubic meters of water per year, which would be sufficient for a domestic and urban use of a village of 100 people.
