Provision of Satellite Image Data for Mobile Radio Network Planning
Project Leader: Dr. Klaus Steinnocher
Contracting Agency: Connect Austria - Telecommunication Company
Beginning: 12.2000
End: 12.2001
Planning mobile radio networks requires information on land use that can be derived from satellite imagery. For the network planning department of Connect Austria, a mobile telephone provider, satellite images covering the entire area of Austria are selected, purchased and pre-processed. The data sets are acquired by the US American satellite Landsat 7, that scans the earths surface in six multispectral channels with a resolution of 30m, and one panchromatic channel with a resolution of 15m. The image scenes are being geocoded with respect to topography in order to derive a geometrical homogeneous data base. Deliverables are 13 Landsat 7 image scenes on CD-ROM, geocoded to the Austrian Gauß-Krüger projection system.
