AKKURAT (Austrian-Korean KOMPSAT Utilisation and Regional Application Testing) is a pilot Earth Observation (EO) application project carried out in Lower Austria in close cooperation with the regional government's spatial planning divisions. The focus of the project is on detecting land cover/use (i.e. determination of artificial surfaces and forest areas).
The Austrian pilot user of AKKURAT is the Region of Lower Austria (Land Niederösterreich). The project team consist of ARC Seibersdorf research and GeoVille interfaced to the regional government's spatial planning divisions. Pilot data products will be generated following the operational requirements of this user.
AKKURAT can furthermore be regarded as a platform of an international bilateral co-operation in KOMPSAT data usage between Austria and South Korea. It will bring together partners from the Austrian research community (ARCS) and the Austrian Earth observation value adding industry (GeoVille) with the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) in order to produce pilot Earth observation products for regional development from the sustainable development point of view.
